Knu-Foil is a special stainless alloy foil which is thin enough to enable it to be wrapped around metal parts to exclude air as far as possible.

Knu-Foil provides the following advantages:

• Provides a simple, low cost method of clean-hardening high carbon, alloy and air-hardening steels.
• Provides special advantages for parts that cannot be easily ground or machined after hardening.
• Reduces scale and distortion.
• A faster quenching medium may be used because of Knu-Foil's insulating effect.
• Reduces the risk of cracking that can be incurred when using a faster quench.
• Eliminates the need for encapsulating or coating the part in a protective material that may be difficult to remove after hardening.
• Eliminates the need for expensive, protective atmosphere furnaces.
• Cuts hardening costs.
